نبذة الناشر:كتب ستيفنسن قصة "جزيرة الكنز" عندما رأى ابن أخيه يستخدم الألوان المائية لتلوين خريطة جزيرة، فبدأ بإعطاء الجزيرة أسماء: "جزيرة الهيكل العظمي" أو "تلّة المنظار"، حتى كتب، في النهاية "جزيرة الكنز" في الجزء العلوي الأيسر من الصفحة.
بعد صراعٍ طويلٍ مع المرض، (لم أنعم بيومٍ واحدٍ من الصحة، طيلة أربعة عشر ...عاماً، كتب) توفي في جزيرة "أوبولو"، في جنوب المحيط الهادئ حيث كان يعيش في ذلك الوقت.
هل تعتقد أنّه وجد كنزه في تلك الجزيرة؟.

Stevenson wrote “Treasure Island” when he saw his nephew use watercolours to paint the map of an island. He began to give the island names: Skeleton Island or Spyglass Hill, until finally writing “Treasure Island” in the upper right-hand part of the page.
After a long illness (“for fourteen years I have not known a single day of health”, he wrote), he died on the Island of Upolu, in the South Pacific, where he was living at the time.
