The importance of the report stems from the political, geographical and cultural weight possessed by the Iranian neighbor, and the effect of its policies and relations on the policies and the security of the ...region; confirming the need for tools and knowledge to understand Iran, and constantly improve these tools in order to guide and support policies of dealing with Iran using realistic approaches, and obtain a rational understanding of common and contentious issues with Tehran.
In response to this need for knowledge on Iran, over the past three years the Iranian Studies Unit in Emirates Policy Center have worked to prepare this report that attempts to provide a holistic and comprehensive approach to the Iranian situation, reflecting a continuous effort of monitoring and analyzing the most important issues throughout the year, with particular attention paid to issues with a direct effect on Arab interests; Gulf interests in general, and the interests of the United Arab Emirates in particular, as seen by the Emirates Policy Center.
This approach is characterized by a disciplined methodology and an analytical approach based on experience, and the necessary cognitive tools, allowing the reader to understand the most important issues and developments in the Iranian arena, as well as transformations and how and why they happen.
