Despite a diminished regional profile following the war, Syria's pivotal role persists, with the aftermath of the conflict continuing to shape regional security dynamics and the trajectories of key regional actors. Indeed, the country has emerged as a focal point for diverse actors seeking to assert influence over the fate of the region and its neighboring countries.
This publication aims to provide a forward-looking perspective on the trajectory of the Syrian conflict and its likely evolution in the foreseeable future. It starts in the first chapter by exploring various scenarios concerning Syria's forthcoming configuration, with a particular emphasis on the interplay between centralization and decentralization in governance, as well as the existing divisions evident on the ground. Subsequently, in the second chapter the narrative transitions to the realm of the Syrian economy, where an examination of its current state is complemented by projections regarding its future trajectories as shaped by the dynamics of war.
