Managing Climate Change In The Gulf Countries And The Broader Middle East : Regional Approaches For COP28
تاريخ النشر: 01/01/2023
الناشر: مركز الإمارات للسياسات
النوع: ورقي غلاف عادي
نبذة الناشر:In acknowledgment of the significant influence of think tanks and science-based policies on climate change, the Emirates Policy Center leads think-tank initiatives dedicated to examining climate change and COP28 agenda. As part of the Center's ongoing efforts, this special issue delves into the evolution of climate strategies and policies in ...the Gulf region, the Arab world, and the wider Middle East through a series of case studies.
It also discusses the most salient challenges that these regions encounter, considering their varying institutional and economic capacities, as well as the dynamics of political and security pressures - both internally and externally. The book is structured into three primary sections. The first section focuses on climate action in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, highlighting the UAE's vision regarding climate change and its approach to addressing this issue.
The second section of the book delves into the complexities of the climate challenge and the limitations of responses to it in the Arab world by examining specific cases in other countries such as Yemen, Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Egypt, and Morocco.
The third section provides insight into climate policies across the broader Middle East, focusing on the cases of Iran, Turkey, Israel, and the Horn of Africa region.
The book concludes with a special chapter that aims to anticipate effective mechanisms to enhance the prospects for the success of the COP28 conference. This analysis is informed by the outcomes of the COP27 conference, which took place in late 2022 in the Egyptian city of Sharm El-Sheikh
