Mapping Political Actors In Iraq
تاريخ النشر: 01/01/2021
الناشر: مركز الإمارات للسياسات
النوع: ورقي غلاف عادي
نبذة الناشر:Eighteen years since the overthrow of Saddam Hussein’s regime and the establishment of a new political system in Iraq, the country faces numerous challenges that threaten its stability and system of governance. The legitimacy of Iraq’s political class has been severely eroded, the ongoing socio-economic crisis has deepened and armed ...militias continue to challenge the authority of the state. Iraq also remains vulnerable Iran’s hegemonic ambitions, regional conflict and Iranian–American rivalry.
The country’s political landscape is deeply fragmented, with multiple, conflicting centers of power frustrating agreements on how to face these ongoing challenges. Understanding this complex web of actors and interests is vital in determining how the political game is played in Iraq, as well as in identifying existing balances, areas of interaction and potential scenarios.
Mapping Political Actors in Iraq aims to: identify the main individuals, parties, alliances and other actors in Iraqi politics; analyze their strengths and weaknesses; identify the tools they employ to achieve their goals; expose the interactions and balances between them; and explore their regional and international alliances. In doing so, it identifies key polarizing issues and attitudes, as well as likely scenarios for their development going forward.
