Arabization From A to Z
تاريخ النشر: 01/01/2012
الناشر: دار كنوز المعرفة
النوع: ورقي غلاف عادي
نبذة الناشر:(This Book is one volume of a Series of Translation Textbooks for University Students by the same author).
Arabization is an integral part of any translation program and syllabus in all Arab universities, colleges, English departments, translation centers or institutes for translation training.
Therefore, an English Textbook on Arabization has always been ...urgent for the students. To the author’s knowledge, there is a shortage of English material and academic investigation in this area of textbooks on Arabization at Arab academic institutions concerned.
Therefore, a simplified textbook on this topic might be an urgent need for the students of translation.
The textbook aims mainly at providing a reasonable, systematic and well-organized account of the rationale behind Arabization: is progression over history up to now, methodologies, terminologies, methods and procedures, problems and solutions and application in practice. Hundreds of practical examples are provided throughout the book to illustration, confirm, approve, disapprove or raise further points of argument about Arabization.
The ultimate objective of this work is to argue for the desperate necessity for Arabization, not only as a matter of national pride, but also for teaching, educational, academic, socio-political, socio-religious and socio-cultural reasons. Its use, legitimacy, usefulness, validity and feasibility are indisputable whether linguistically, semantically or educationally.
It represents a challenge as the right and the duty to be taken up by Arab academics and specialists to meet the Nation’s urgent needs for education and knowledge in her own native language, Arabic.
There is no claim in this volume to substantial contribution to the development of Arabization. Yet, perhaps it is valid to have a claim to provoking some serious, transparent and open-minded arguments and critiques about the historical development and current state of Arabization in relation to methods, procedures, methodologies, applicability, difficulties, solutions and application in practice by Language Academies as well as other institutions and individuals. Every point of discussion is generally student-oriented in terms of simplicity of organization, language, terminology and argumentation.
This Textbook is intended by the author to be one further volume (the Fourth) in a series of 10-volume translation encyclopaedia and textbooks (English < >Arabic) (the first three are Translation as Problems and Solutions (2008), Cognitive Stylistics and the Translator (2011) and Translating the Media and political idiom (2012a).
'HASAN SAID GHAZALA' is currently a professor of Stylistics and Translation at the English Department, Umm Al-Qura University, Makkah Al-Mukarramah, Saudi Arabia. He has so for published (17) books and (39) papers in the two areas of his specialism including three dictionaries (English < > Arabic).
