نبذة الناشر:The online self-disclosure (OSD) of sensitive private information on social media (SM) platforms has become a fundamental element of many people’s lives. Yet, the intentional OSD of sensitive private information on SM can lead people to be vulnerable to cybercrime. Cybercrime is one of the fastest growing categories of crime, ...with victims of cybercrime increasing significantly over the last two decades, as the use of the internet, mobile technologies and SM has expanded. One of the cybercrimes that people who intentional engage in the OSD of sensitive private information on SM platforms may fall victim to is online blackmail. Nonetheless, few studies have examined the link between OSD and experiences of online blackmail. This study seeks to address this gap in knowledge by exploring how common the intentional OSD of sensitive private information on WhatsApp is, developing and testing if a modified version of the Theory of Planned Behaviour (TPB) can be used to understand the factors influencing OSD, examining how prevalent online blackmail arising from such disclosures is, if people report their victimisation, as well as the response of criminal justice professionals to these incidents إقرأ المزيد
