نبذة الناشر:The International Court of Justice (ICJ) is the principal judicial organ of the United Nations (UN). It was established 62 years ago at the end of the Second World War, and is the successor to the Permanent Court of International Justice (PCIJ) that was functioning at the time of the ...League of Nations.
The ICJ is one of the main organs of the UN, along with the General Assembly, Security Council, Secretariat and the Economic and Social Council. It shares with the other UN organs the purpose stated in Article 1 of the charter: the maintenance of international peace and security. The ICJ's particular contribution to this goal is the judicial settlement of international disputes in conformity with the principles of justice and international law.
The ICJ has a dual role: to settle in accordance with international law the legal disputes submitted to it by states; and to give Advisory Opinions on legal questions referred to it by certain organs of the united nations and duly authorized specialized agencies-Advisory Opinions will be discussed in more detail. إقرأ المزيد
