نبذة الناشر:This book is the story of an English woman who kept diaries of her life in Lebanon prior to and during the great famine of World War One.
It gives a keen insight into daily activities, family and community relationships, and above all, the severe hardships experienced by ordinary Lebanese trying ...to survive famine, pestilence and disease during a period of Lebanese history that has received little attention.
Khater Abi Habib
All along the road there are bones of poor people who have been starved to death or have been robbed and killed.
A friend of mine also went to Beyrout and by the side of the road there were the bones of a man who had died of hungry. His poor sister had tried to bury him, but she had not strength to dig the grave. The foxes had eaten his flesh and all that was left were the bones.
Such scenes are an everyday occurrence.
