نبذة الناشر:Author Elizabeth Thorneycroft-Smith led many cultural tours poring over the stones of the Mediterranean ancient sites. She landed in Lebanon in 1994 as an Art Director of a new international Arts Festival.
It was then the beginning of a love affair with a beautiful but troubled country. Living in a ...succession of traditional Lebanese houses she painted a portrait of everyday life in the ancient port-city of Byblos in a country torn apart by religion, war and international politics.
When war broke out in 2006, she declined a place on the evacuation boat and dashed to the supermarket, not for food but for cat litter for her collection of adopted cats named after famous travelers.
Delighting in local characters, fabulous ancient sites, delicious food and a golden retriever called Sophy, Elizabeth Thorneycroft- Smith is in the centuries- old tradition of British women who simply prefer to live alone in foreign lands. إقرأ المزيد
