The following are selected case studies in clinical nutrition, the purpose of which is to apply
the knowledge of nutrition in real-life situations.
In these cases the student is advised to read the case and understand the patient nutritional
problems and analyze their needs and plan the right diet for him. Each case is followed by a
number of questions in which by answering them, will provide solution to the nutritional
problems of the patient. The questions deal with pathophysiologic correlation, nutritional
assessment, dietary planning, and dietary counseling. Ideal answer to questions has to be
prepared before coming to the classroom and referred to textbooks, references and scientific
web sites. It is useful for the student to discuss the case and the questions related to it
