Essentially this means drawing capital funds back into the region by enhancing investor confidence in the Arab economies. Considering that of the total capital flows of $231.5 billion towards the emerging markets in 1996 only 2% was invested in the Arab area, opportunities are enormous and may be maximized by the readiness of Arab states to submit to the scrutiny of international rating agencies.
This book contains a group of studies on rating, sovereign, bank and securities ratings, edited by senior experts in rating issues, from well-known international rating agencies such as Moody’s, S&P, IBCA. Its ultimate objective is to examine the methodologies and techniques used by rating agencies for rating sovereign risk, banks and securities.
