نبذة نيل وفرات:The name of Baalbek is of cannanite origin and probably means “Baal of the spring”. This toponym seems to suggest a pre-Roman origin of the cult. Baalbek is the chief town of the caza. It is located in the northern Bekaa valley. Geologically, the Bekaa is the natural and ...northern extension of the Jordan and the great East African rift valleys. Bordering the plain on both sides are the Lebanon and Anti Lebanon mountains. The altitude of the Beqaa varies between 900 and 1100 m. Favorable living conditions are provided by the mild climate, abundant rainfall in winter, dry and hot summers, a large number of spring bursting out of the mountain slopes and very fertile sails in the plain. The Beqaa, therefore, one of the first areas of the Fertile Crescent to have been settled. The Fertile Crescent is the region running along the mountain ridges and extending from southern Palestine to the north, east and then south. This book is about Heliopolis Baalbeck. A historical study which aims to realize-cover its’ ruins. The idea which stands behind the work on this book is of commemorating Emperor Williams 11’s visit to Baalbeck shape two years ago.
