نبذة الناشر:This study compares the influences of traditional Sufi teachings and the writings of Idries Shah on Lessing’s fiction from her “Sufi period” (1969- 1983).
The novels, including the multi- volume Canopus in Argos series, are examined and interpreted in psychoanalytic and symbolic terms, Lessing’s borrowings from classic science- fiction and early ...feminism are documented.
The study concludes that Lessing, as a Western writer who lost faith in communism, feminism and social progress, adopted Shah’s ideas as a way out of her own psychological and spiritual dilemma.
