Or that girl who just doesn’t give a flying rat’s about anyone, and thinks her sense of style is out this world; quirky colorful clothing, tons of hand-made jewelry, and a book or two that she just can’t let go? Do you know that old man that sits in his 60s-inspired shop all day, possibly starting at a picture of his long-dead wife, trying to reminisce?
Do you know that woman who spends most of her day picking up discarded plastic cups and tucking them gently into bags on her trolley? Do you know that teacher who fumbles into and out of class everyday, all the while avoiding any eye-contact, short conversations, or one-on-one talks? Do you know me?
I am HOMELESS, I walk the streets, sit next to you, smile as you walk by, and lay in dark corners. I am HOMELESS. I am those who you’ve never dared to really look at, because you’ve never taken the time to really observe the people around you. I will tell you my stories, pasts, ambitions, hopes, and dilemmas. I will show you my houses, my refuges, and my streets.
I hope you would value my homelessness, learn from what I have to offer, and accept that we all have little secrets gnawing away at our soul, killing us slowly and steadily, because we’re scared of everyone around us, scared to be ourselves.
