نبذة نيل وفرات:Cross Road is the last of a series of books “New Steps to English” written for the elementary cycle, and is addressed to students who study English as a first language.
Produced in conformity with the new English curriculum, Cross Road covers the four basic skills of language learning: reading, ...writing, listening, and speaking – besides a special focus laid on developing critical thinking, cultural awareness, and study skills.
This student’s book contains a set of five thematic units (blended from the list of themes required at this level in curriculum), each consisting of five lessons that consistently cover the above language skills. Each lesson starts with a reading selection that verges on one aspect of the unit theme, and then invites the students to conduct oral discussions – either in pairs or in groups – to help facilitate their oral communication and fluency skills. Within the context of each lesson, relevant vocabulary, grammar, writing, and listening skills and activities are then incorporated.
At the end of each unit, a supplementary reading selection from tales and legends is offered under the heading “Adventures in Reading”. It is hoped that the students will find these selections truly enjoyable and inviting to read. Actually, this is the ultimate purpose of reading at this stage: to learn through “thought-inspiring pleasure”.
It is hoped that this book will be a springboard for students to develop their critical awareness of the world around them, to investigate their interest in communication, in discussion of contemporary problems, and in finding out for themselves – besides the wish to express themselves fluently and well.نبذة المؤلف:Cross Road is the last of a series of books ''New Steps to English'' written for the elementary cycle, and is addressed to students who study English as a first language.

Each unit rounds off with a timed assessment test that checks on all the language points and skills handled in the unit. Definitely the test is not supplied in the student's textbook. It is included in the Teacher's Book and is given out by the teacher at the right time. إقرأ المزيد
