نبذة المؤلف:In order to compile the material of this little book I have endeavoured to explore a variety of Latin sources of ancient maxims and have translated the gleaned material to Arabic and English. The translation has been either by means of drawing on already accepted versions in the intended language ...or by interpreting the sense as closely as possible.
Where the reader prefers the use of the Latin original, it is hoped that one or both of the accompanying interpretations may assist him in analysing his Latin phrase. It goes without saying that whatever may be the fame of the accepted interpretation, the original remains supreme in succinctness of phrase and beauty of essence, with the exception, perhaps, of such phrases as have been burnished and perfected by sacred books.
A comperhensive intial reading of this book may perhaps help the reader to identify the location of various phrases for pratical use and for reference when necessary. إقرأ المزيد
