All involved, and even those who are not, desire to see a peaceful, territorially intact Iraq, playing its rightful role among the community of nations. As such, the two principal areas of focus for the future of Iraq are security and reconstruction.
It is because the outcome of developments in Iraq is of such importance to the Middle East region and the Arabian Gulf in particular that the Emirates Center of Strategic Studies and Research hosted a series of lectures and a symposium entitled "Iraq: Reconstruction and Future Role", in Abu Dhabi, on September 14-15, 2003. Specialists in the field of Iraqi politics, development and energy were invited to share their views on the war, its aftermath and possible scenarios for the future.
This volume is a valuable collection of these expert views.
